A rustic cottage fully restored to its original appearance, with exposed stone walls, wooden beams and wooden floor and tiled ground floor. It is furnished with antique French country style comfortable furniture.
Ground floor: a large living room with a fireplace, a fully fitted modern kitchen, bathroom and separate WC. Utility room. One double bedroom with en suite shower room. (bed 1.60 mt wide).

Upstairs: a double bedroom with one 1.40 mt wide bed, one mezzanine bedroom with two single beds, each 1.20 mt wide.

Facilities included: Chimney, 2 TVs, 2 videorecorder/ players, DVD player, phone, hi-fi; games, books and video cassettes. Dishwasher, microwave oven, full oven, washing machine, deep freezer. All rooms have electric heating.

To enhance comfort for a restful and enjoyable stay, there are a 500 square metre private garden, a stone patio with garden furniture, a large outdoor roofed dining area with rustic furniture and a purpose built chimney-barbecue. Two mountain bicycles for adults and 2 for children are available free of charge.

Bathroom towels, house linen, and bed linen is provided,the beds are made prior to arrival. The gîte is open all year round.

Supermarkets and banks are available at Fontenay le Comte. There is a street market on Saturday at Fontenay. Within walking distance in the village there is a farm auberge, a pub.

Situated in the quiet village of Saint Michel le Cloucq, 5 kms from the old capital of Fontenay le Comte, 30 kms from Niort and 50 Kms from La Rochelle and the beaches of the Atlantic and the islands of Ré and Aix. The village is on the edge of a large forest and there are lots of places to walk and cycles. Less than 5 kms from the house is the River Vende wher you can fish and there is good fishing and boating on the canals of Le Marais Poitevin , better known as Green Venice. Lac de Chassenon has a beach with supervised swimming, it is great for the young children.

The Vendée, apart from its beauty, is filled with historic and fine architecture, notably the Abbaye of Maillezais or the Abbaye Royale in Nieul.

For kids of all ages the Futuroscope theme park is an hour away near Poitiers, and for the adults the famous Cognac houses are within easy reach for tours and tastings. The history adventure park at Puy du Fou opens a fantastic new attraction on 2006.
