The Old Millhouse, is situated on the edge of the charming Vendee village of Pissotte which is about two miles from the ancient market town of Fontenay le Comte, through which the Vendee River gently meanders. Just 5 minutes drive away from the Old Millhouse you can explore the picturesque Mervent Forest with its lakes and reservoirs. Go fishing or swimming, boating, windsurfing or follow the many nature trails and have fun at the activity centres to be found there. Then you may wish to sample the excellent French cuisine from the restaurants, with their panoramic views overlooking the lakes.
The village boasts its own vineyard and cave (Vins de Pissotte) where you may like to sample and/or purchase the local product in very pleasant surroundings. A short walk from the Old Millhouse and close to the cave you will find Le Pommiere restaurant where a warm and friendly reception awaits - their specialities are crepes and galettes, plus an extensive selection of ciders and wines.

The Old Millhouse is just 30 minutes drive from the fantastic Puy du Fou with its extraordinary theme park and amazing "Son et Lumiere" spectacular Sound and Light show, telling the history of the Vendee (Friday and Saturday evenings only for the latter). www.puydufou.com/uk/ The beautiful Vendee beaches are within easy reach and captivating La Rochelle just half an hour away. With Les Sables D'Olonne, La Tranche sur Mer and the Ile de Re just a little further on, you have a wonderful choice of beaches.

A leisurely 15 minute drive from the Old Millhouse will take you to Venise Verte (Green Venice), with its profusion of tree shaded canals and rivers, to be enjoyed to the full by all ages. Take a leisurely trip through the leafy waterways either paddling yourselves or being lazy and hiring a "guide" to do the work! You're on holiday after all!!

The house has undergone total refurbishment and has been tastefully and very comfortably furnished. Downstairs is a very large lounge with a woodburning fire, satellite TV and comfortable lounge and occasional furniture.

The dining room boasts a dining suite that easily accommodates eight people and (when its time for sleeping not eating) a most comfortable double sofa bed.

The kitchen is fully fitted and equipped with fridge/freezer, full electric oven and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and all the necessary pots pans, cutlery and crockery etc. There is also a highchair.

In addition on the ground floor there is a large bathroom with bath and shower and a separate wc.

Upstairs the master bedroom contains a king-size and a single bed. The second bedroom has twin beds and the third a double bed. There is also a cot available.

In addition, on this floor is a shower room and w.c.

There are electric radiators in each bedroom as well as in the lounge, dining room and kitchen

The garden is enclosed and has secure parking to accommodate at least three cars. In addition there is a very large grassed area with various fruit trees (fig, plum, apple, cherry and olive plus a beautiful vine that climbs along the side of the house) and of course the swimming pool (24' x 12'). There is a selection of loungers, garden furniture and a gas barbecue. Tennis and badminton racquets etc are available, plus two sets of golf clubs for you to sample those beautiful French golf courses, a number of which are in convenient travelling distance.
